Mohit Tawarmalani, PhD, is the Allison and Nancy Schleicher Chair of Management at Purdue Univ., where he teaches courses in business analytics and optimization and conducts research on optimization methods and their applications in separations, network systems design, and economics of business decisions. He has co-authored BARON, one of the leading commercial solvers for global optimization, as well as a book on global optimization algorithms. He received the INFORMS Computing Society Prize and the Beale-Orchard-Hays Prize for his work on global optimization. He is a member of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Science and the Mathematical Optimization Society, and he is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Global Optimization and of Mathematical Programming Computation. He holds a bachelor’s of technology in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and an MS and PhD in industrial engineering from Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
