Bryner joined AIChE in June 2011 as one of the editors of Chemical Engineering Progress (CEP), and in 2017, assumed the role of Facilitation Process Manager and led the development of the RAPID Manufacturing Institute roadmaps. Since then, Bryner has been instrumental in providing roadmapping and strategic planning support to many government-funded activities within AIChE as well as developing new communities within AIChE. Some highlights include the development of AIChE Foundation’s ED&I roadmap, the CCPS Vision 20/20 roadmap, and the startup of the Center for Hydrogen Safety.

Michelle started her career as a chemical engineer at W.L. Gore, where she was a process and product development associate and led international teams to bring Gore-Tex products to market. She then earned a master’s degree in science journalism from NYU, and put her journalism skills to work as an editor at Chemical Week magazine and a freelance science writer for consumer science magazines and specialty publications, including Popular Science, Psychology Today, TechNewsDaily.com, InnovationNewsDaily.com, and MensHealth.com.

Michelle has a B.Ch.E. in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware, a B.S. in chemistry, and an M.A. in science, health, and environmental reporting from New York University.
