
Dr ONG Mei Horng is currently an Advisor, Mentor and Consultant for food and beverage (F&B) manufacturers, start-ups, venture capitalists and research agencies. She helps F&B companies to innovate and transform their business via the development of new product, technology and services, and adoption of digital, automation and advanced manufacturing Industry (I).4.0 solutions. She is a mentor for Big Idea Venture (BIV) and consultant for a few food companies in Malaysia and Singapore.
Dr Ong currently also serves as an Adjunct Professor and part time lecturer for Food Science, Technology and Nutrition MSc Programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Dr Ong was the Director of the FMCG Cluster at ARTC where she led the cluster in the development and implementation of A*STAR's R&D strategies and building a new FMCG membership consortium ecosystem for public-private partnerships. During her stay at A*STAR, she had successfully obtained research grants of more than SGD 27.5M to develop an I4.0 Hyper Personalised Testbed.
She was the Chief Scientific Officer of Fraser & Neave (F&N) Ltd, during which she focused on R&D and manufacturing strategies. She has extensive industry experience and deep expertise gained from over 25 years working in food and beverage companies such as Nestlé, Mars and Cadbury, F&N and Vitasoy in Europe, Oceania and Asia.
Dr Ong is also a council member of the Singapore Institute of Food Science and Technology (SIFST). Dr Ong graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Management with honours from King’s College, University of London and obtained her PhD in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nottingham in England.
