Matthew McDonald

Matthew McDonald is a fifth year PhD student at Georgia Tech in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, set to defend his dissertation in August. His research interests include crystallization, process development, and reactive separations. His dissertation, advised by Professors Andreas Bommarius, Martha Grover, and Ronald Rousseau, focuses on sustainable production of beta-lactam antibiotics by enzyme-catalyzed reactive crystallization in a continuous process. At this year’s AIChE Annual Meeting Matt will give presentations discussing crystal shape and growth rates, process analytical technology, and continuous manufacturing, as they relate to the aforementioned dissertation topic.
