Kimberly Ogden

Kimberly Ogden is a Professor of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and the Director of the Institute for Energy Solutions at the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on bioreactor design to solve a variety of problems from production of pharmaceuticals to bioremediation to biofuels. Most recently she is interested in integrated systems to produce fuel, food and specialty products simultaneously.

Dr. Ogden has been passionate about AIChE since being involved as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania when she had the opportunity to be mentored by faculty who introduced her to the benefits of AIChE. After completing her BS degree, Kim continued her education at theUniversity of Colorado, where she received her MS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering. Kim’s first leadership position at AIChE was as the Chair of the Student Chapters committee. This lead to her involvement in the Operating Council, CEOC and subsequently she became Secretary of the Board of Directors from 2010 to 2013 and in 2019 she became President of the AIChE Board of Directors. She is a member of the AIChE’s Foundation Board of Trustees and a Fellow of the Institute. Currently she is involved in the RAPID initiative, the Education and Accreditation Committee and the International Society for Water Solutions.
