
Ken McLellan is the Open Innovation Leader for Clorox’s Health and Wellness businesses which include Burt’s Bees, Nutranext, Natural Vitality, and others. He delivers valuable insights, new ideas, and external capabilities to help these fast growing business units make the right innovation and business decisions as they deliver new solutions to consumers.
Focusing on Burt’s Bees, some of the programs that Ken implemented include a Natural Launchpad (external entrepreneurial) program, a Digital Beauty Faire, Innovent (employee-led ideation contest) and the facilitation of several advisory boards and technical summits. Ken also helps Burt’s Bees identify new partnerships for growth, beyond the typical supplier base.
By partnering closely with external experts, other companies and Clorox’s internal resources, he has responsibilities to find external capabilities to bring in and help create new opportunities. On the front end of Discovery, he helps cross-functional teams quickly determine if new white space opportunities are worth a closer look.
Ken’s prior experience includes open innovation and product supply leadership positions at Clorox and Procter & Gamble. Outside of the day job, Ken has been studying how Biomimicry and other natural solutions can help bring corporations and the natural world closer together, all while advancing new breakthrough levels of sustainability and innovation.
