I’m a Microbiologist, and a Research Scientist of Sinskey lab in MIT Department of Biology. I graduated from Hokkaido University (JAPAN) in 1984 with a B.S. and earned a Ph.D. in Applied Microbiology from Hokkaido University, Graduate School (JAPAN) in 1989. My primary expertise is in useful material production by microorganisms, strain screening, strain engineering, fermentation and bioprocess development for the biomaterials production. I have experience with biomass-conversion studies, developing an energy saving process “Uncooking starch fermentation using raw starch saccharifying enzyme”, in my graduate studies; new antibiotics discovery and development study, in the private sector for more than ten years (JAPAN). I joined the Sinskey lab in 2003, and since then, I’ve focused on microbial research, mainly using Rhodococcus bacteria. Currently, I work toward the goal of “Triacylglycerol production by Rhodococcus to make biofuels”.
