Postdoctoral Research Associate
Purdue Univ.

Junli Liu, PhD, is a postdoctoral research associate in the Dept. of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Purdue Univ. (Email: liu18@purdue.edu). In addition to research, he also teaches courses on modeling and thermodynamics. He received his PhD in agricultural and biological engineering from Purdue Univ. in 2012. He worked in the biodiesel industry for about four years after graduation with roles in quality control, process development, and research. Liu worked as a research scientist at Purdue Univ. from 2016 to 2018 on using hemp to make biosorbents for wastewater treatment, and also on synthesizing cellulose nanocrystals. He joined Dr. Feng’s group at the Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2019 and worked to develop ultrasonic separation from laboratory batch scale to continuous pre-pilot plant scale. His current research interests lie in renewable energy, biofuels, biochemicals, biomaterials, separation, wastewater treatment, and nanoparticles.
