John J. Hauser

John J. Hauser was the Principal Engineer and President of PROSAF Inc. until the company was sold to Danielle Mainiero-Cessna in 2021. In that role he has successfully helped clients for over 30 years in the fields of Emergency Relief System Design, process safety and safety instrumented systems. Now, he provides consulting assistance to PROSAF Inc.

He earned a BSChE degree from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1975. He is a registered professional engineer in PA, TX and IL. He was involved with DIERS for over 35 years, served on the DIERS Operating Committee, served on the SuperChems technical evaluation committee and served on the book writing committee for the CCPS: Guidelines for Pressure Relief and Effluent Handling, 2nd. Ed.

He is a life member of AIChE, Fellow. He has presented several papers at DIERS Users Group meetings as well as published 2 fire case ERS design articles: Jan. 1995 in Process Safety Progress and Sept. 2001 in Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries.

Teaching Experience.

  • ERS Design Methods courses; developed and presented these courses at 5 major chemical companies
  • PHA methodology; developed and presented these courses at 4 international locations for multiple clients
  • Safety Instrumented Systems; taught compliance courses more than 10 times in the US and Canada
  • ERS Design using DIERS Technology. Presented 3 times in the US.
