Jim Aloise

Jim Aloise is the Executive Director of the Carbontech Development Initiative at Columbia Technology Ventures, the Tech Transfer office of Columbia University. Jim has more than 23 years of Technology Transfer and Technology Commercialization experience both in academia and in industry. For the last more than 12 years, Jim has focused on entrepreneurship education, training, and support with particular attention on Cleantech, Climatetech and Carbontech. He is Assistant Vice President at Columbia Technology Ventures (CTV), the Executive Director of the Climate Initiatives Group, Principal Investigator for the NYSERDA Climatetech Expertise Network (CEN) Program; and the former Executive Director of PowerBridgeNY (PBNY), a cleantech accelerator. He is a nationally trained NSF I-Corps Instructor and has taught with the New York Region Hub, the New York Interior Region Hub, the Northeast Region Hub, and the Capital Region I-Corps Site at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he is the former Executive Entrepreneur in Residence. Before Columbia, Jim worked at General Electric in Patent, Technology, and Trademark licensing.
Jim has an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, an MS in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University and a BS in Optics from the University of Rochester.
