Jennifer Hamilton is a postdoctoral researcher in the University of California, Berkeley, lab of recent Nobel winner, Jennifer Doudna.
Hamilton works on solving an issue researchers face when trying to make CRISPR-based therapies: delivering the genome editor to a target area. To do so, Hamilton has been studying how to use viruses as vehicles to transport the genome editing tools into the desired cells. In early 2020, Hamilton helped set up a COVID-19 testing network for the campus and the local community.
Prior to joining the Doudna Lab, Hamilton received her B.S. in Biochemistry and Physiology from the University of Washington and was a research technician at Washington University in St. Louis, and the Seattle Children’s Research Institute.
Hamilton earned her PhD at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she leveraged viral engineering to improve influenza virus as an oncolytic and to study the immunological role of cells that survive direct infection with influenza virus.”
