Jegan Babu Arumugakan Thuraiswamy is the deputy chief for the process safety engineering group at Bechtel Oil, Gas, and Chemicals (Email: jbarumug@bechtel.com). He is a subject matter expert in the field of process safety, including inherently safer design, process hazard analysis, layers of protection analysis, risk assessment, and loss prevention strategy. He has a BS in chemical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India. He is a Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) and a senior member of AIChE. He has twice chaired the process safety session of AIChE’s Southwest Process Technology Conference.
