Isuru A. Udugama, PhD, is a senior lecturer (associate professor) in the Dept. of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the Univ. of Auckland (UOA). He has a BE (Hons) and PhD (distillation control) in chemical engineering and a BCom (economics and finance) from UOA. He also works as a process control consultant with S&D Consulting, Inc. Previously, Udugama held academic positions at the Technical Univ. of Denmark (DTU) and the Univ. of Tokyo, and he holds a visiting fellowship at TH-Nuremberg. His expertise centers around applying process systems engineering concepts, including process modeling (digital twins), closed-loop control, and technoeconomics, to fine chemical, food, and biotech production processes.
