
Erik López Basto is a Colombian chemical engineer with over 25 years of experience in power generation and oil refining. He holds a degree from the National University of Colombia, an MBA from the Technological University of Bolívar, and two specializations from Universidad del Norte. Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. at Delft University of Technology, focusing on the assessment of low-carbon technologies in refineries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Previously, he served as Energy Leader at the Cartagena Refinery, leading energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction strategies. He has presented his research at international conferences, including ISIE 2023, ESCAPE 34 & 35, and NPS 19, and has published in Cleaner Energy Systems and Computer Aided Chemical Engineering.
