Expert Collective Cooperative

Enrique is the Founding Director and Member of the Expert Collective Cooperative (http://expertcollective.org) which is focused on advising technology leaders in the translation of knowledge into products and services for positive socio-economic and environmental impact. 

An expert in all aspects of the venture creation process, Enrique has founded and led startups, advised sellers and buyers in M&A transactions, and spearheaded industrial collaborations and spin-offs in academia.  Enrique advises early-stage ventures in funding and growth strategies and has directly contributed to over $25 million in equity investments across a select set of early-stage clients and to acquisition of key customers and top talent.

Enrique is an affiliate at the MIT LinQ program for biomedical innovation, housed within MIT’s Institute for Medical Engineering and Sciences, where he supports collaborations between academics, entrepreneurs, and industry.  He is also an instructor at MIT’s New England Regional Innovation Node (i-Corps) where he supports teams in the process of customer discovery.

At MIT, Enrique developed expertise in leading a community of academics, practitioners and professionals to create win-win collaborations.  For example, Enrique was the conceptual creator of MIT’s Startup Exchange, an online platform that enables interactions between MIT’s Industrial Liaison Program’s corporate members and MIT-connected startups (http://startupexchange.mit.edu) and remains an active mentor to many startups in the MIT community.  For most of his tenure at the Institute, Enrique has held industry-facing positions including Head of the Workplace Learning Collaborative at MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL; http://jwel.mit.edu) and Senior Industrial Liaison Officer at the Office of Corporate Relations.

Enrique earned a Masters in Business Administration from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts (Magna Cum Laude) and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela (Ranked #2). Enrique is fluent in English and Spanish and has basic knowledge of Portuguese.
