Donald Visco

Dr. Donald P. Visco, Jr is currently a Professor of Chemical Engineering at The University of Akron (and was the former dean of the College of Engineering). 

As an educator, Visco has won a variety of awards including the National Outstanding Teaching Award from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the Outstanding Service Award from the Education Division of AIChE.  He is a Fellow of both AIChE and ASEE.

Visco has served in a variety of leadership roles in AIChE and ASEE, including Chair of the Education Division of AIChE and Chair for the Chemical Engineering Division of ASEE.

Visco, who won a Dept of Energy PECASE award, has current research interests in computer-aided molecular design (focused in cement admixtures, pharmaceuticals, etc.).

Visco is the editor of the journal Chemical Engineering Education and serves as the Chair of the ASEE Faculty Teaching Excellence Task Force.

He is the co-author of the undergraduate textbook, Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, with Kevin Dahm (Rowan University).  He has been a member of AIChE since 1992.
