Donald P. Visco

Professor Don Visco received his B.S. and PhD. from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  He has taught at the University of Tennessee - Space Institute, Tennessee Technological University, and at the University of Akron, where he is currently an Interim Dean for the College of Engineering.  He played a key role in the formation of the AIChE Education Division, and served in its leadership cycle for six years.  As a result of the work of Don and others, the Education Division now has a robust paying professional membership of over 300 and conducts a broad range of activities ranging from social events to webinars to a mentoring program for prospective faculty.  For the past nine years, he has co-taught the "Effective Teaching for New or Prospective Faculty" workshop and has served on the planning team for the Chemical Engineering Faculty Summer School.  Don has a long publishing history in chemical engineering education, including the textbook "Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics" with co-author Kevin Dahm.
