Demetri Zervoudis is senior vice president of global Polyurethane joint ventures (JVs) and Propylene Oxide / Polyether (PET) sites at Covestro LLC. He is also responsible for Procurement for the Americas region, and serves as the health, safety, environment and security officer at Covestro LLC.

Zervoudis joined the company (then part of Bayer) in 1983 as a process research engineer. He held various positions of increasing responsibility within research & development, before moving to Bayer’s Central Engineering group in 1987.

In 1992, he oversaw strategic expansion planning for the company’s North American polyurethanes business. From this experience, Zervoudis went on to design, construct and start up several chemical units as part of the company’s expansion program in Baytown, Texas. He was named vice president of manufacturing in 1999, assuming responsibility for polyurethanes and coatings manufacturing at the New Martinsville, West Virginia, industrial park.

Following the Bayer reorganization in 2002, Zervoudis gained responsibility for global TDI (toluene di-isocyanate) production. Beginning in 2010, he chaired the HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) community council for Bayer Americas and served as the Safety and Sustainability Officer for Bayer Corporation.

Zervoudis holds a bachelor's degree in chemical and petroleum engineering and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.

He and his wife, Aspasia, reside in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, with their two children. Zervoudis enjoys sailing, jogging, cooking, reading books and spending time with his family.
