Dr. David Tonjes research interests are Solid Waste Management, Impacts to Ground Water from Local Waste Management Facilities, Long Island Ground Water Dynamics, and Sanitary Waste Management Impacts on Local Estuaries.
He currently serves as a Graduate Program Director and Research Associate Professor at Stony Brook University in the Department of Technology and Society.
He serves as the director of the Waste Data and Analysis Center and is a member of other Stony Brook University research groups such as the Institute of Gas Innovation and Technology, the Long Island Groundwater Research Institute, and the Waste Reduction and Management Institute
