Christopher V.H.-H. Chen, PhD, is a lecturer in chemical engineering and a director of master’s studies in chemical engineering at Columbia Univ. (500 W 120th St., New York, NY, 10027, Email: chen.christopher@columbia.edu). He completed his PhD in chemical and biological engineering at Princeton Univ. and his master of business administration (MBA) at Columbia Business School. He has previously worked for the Warner-Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry and the sustainable drinkware start-up OMAO. His teaching and research interests include applying case- and problem-based approaches to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teaching; researching how social and emotional interventions improve engineering education; using artificial intelligence (AI) and other technologies to teach core engineering skills, such as critical thinking; and preparing graduate students as future leaders. He currently serves on the publication board for Chemical Engineering Education and is a director on the executive committee of the Chemical Education Division (ChED) of ASEE. He has won ASEE ChED Corcoran and Martin Awards for his engineering education work.
