Chris Luettgen

Chris Luettgen, PhD, is the Associate Director of the Renewable Bioproducts Institute (RBI) and Professor of the Practice in the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He received a BS in pulp and paper engineering from Western Michigan Univ. (1985) and MS and PhD degrees in paper science and engineering at The Institute of Paper Science and Technology in Appleton and Atlanta, respectively (1987 and 1991). He worked for 25 years for Kimberly-Clark Corp., most recently leading North American Innovation for the Commercial Business. Luettgen joined the faculty of Georgia Tech in 2014 and teaches the pulp and paper manufacturing program while conducting research in recycling, renewable cellulosic feedstocks, vegetative biomass applications in paper, commercialization of nanocellulosic materials in consumer and packaging products, and smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0. He served on the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) Board of Directors from 2010–2019, most recently as Board Chair. He was named a TAPPI Fellow in 2013.
