Bernard West, PhD, holds BSc and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from the Univ. of Manchester, where he also taught for six years. Previously, he was the CEO of CANSOLV Technologies in Montréal, and the president and COO of Canada Colors and Chemicals Ltd. He has 30 years of prior experience in the chemical industry with Rhone-Poulenc, Imperial Oil (Esso), and Polymer Corp. He is also chair of the Board of CShE and chair of the Chemical Institute of Canada. Currently, he chairs the Board of Haygain, Ltd. in Lambourn, U.K., as well as president of Westworks Consulting Ltd., in Toronto. In addition, he is co-vice chair and founding co-chair of BioIndustrial Innovation Canada and the Sustainable Chemistry Alliance in Sarnia.
