Bailey Carignan received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Biology from Plymouth State University, where she studied virulence capabilities in the bacterium responsible for cholera disease, Vibrio cholerae. After completing her M.S. in Biology in 2017, Bailey joined Mascoma LLC, a subsidiary of Lallemand, where she expanded her molecular expertise in genetic and metabolic engineering through development of genetically engineered yeast strains for the commercial fuel ethanol and brewing industries. Currently, Bailey leads strain engineering on Mascoma’s Brewing team which uses modern genetic engineering methods for development of the next generation of genetically engineered brewing solutions that aim to improve sustainability and simplify production processes.
