Arijit Chakraborty

Arijit Chakraborty is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Complex Resilient Intelligent Systems (CRIS) laboratory of Professor Venkat Venkatasubramanian, at Columbia University in the City of New York. He is interested in applying his knowledge and skills to real-world problems.

His active area of research lies at the intersection of applying artificial intelligence (AI) to a wide variety of chemical engineering problems, by leveraging the fundamental knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology, that govern such physicochemical phenomena. He is interested in developing an automated framework for discovering the underlying models for such complex systems, and explaining the same in a natural-language fashion – delving into the field of explainable AI (XAI). When he is not thinking about how AI can be used to further the sciences and engineering, he is out running, rock climbing, cycling, and hiking.
