Andreas Vogel, Ph.D., is the head of research and development for enzymes at c-LEcta GmbH in Germany. He received his Ph.D. in chemistry at the Univ. of Münster, and he has focused on enzymes since he first realized their power and beauty. Over the course of his academic career, he worked at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Hamburg, which is dedicated to using synchrotron radiation to elucidate biological structures, and at the Max-Planck-Institut in Mülheim, where he learned the principles of directed enzyme evolution. Vogel is the author of more than 40 academic papers and patents in the field of enzyme engineering. In 2019, he co-edited the book Industrial Enzyme Applications.
