Amir Farnoud obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa followed by postdoctoral training in Microbiology at SUNY-Stony Brook. Dr. Farnoud joined Ohio University in August 2015 where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and a member of the Biomedical Engineering program. Research in Dr. Farnoud’s group is primarily focused on the interactions of engineered nanomaterials with biological membranes and is currently supported by the NIH and the NSF. Outside of academia, Dr. Farnoud is an avid chess player and is the former chess champion of the state of Iowa.
