Kiyotaka Hara

Kiyotaka Hara is an associate professor in the Graduate School of Nutritional and Environmental Sciences, University of Shizuoka. He is interested in the development and improvement of microbial fine chemical production through metabolic engineering and synthetic bioengineering, with a particular focus on microbial intracellular energy metabolism. Recently, He represented a national research project, JST-Mirai Program to develop photo-energetic cell factories as a game changing technology in bioproduction.

Kiyotaka Hara received his B.S, M.S. and Ph.D in biochemical...Read more

Liting Duan

Liting Duan received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Renmin University of China (People’s University of China) and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University. Her thesis focused on the development of optogenetic strategies to control intracellular activities. During postdoctoral research, she further studied and engineered the photosensory proteins interactions for optimized optogenetic toolkits. In July 2018, she joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor. Now her group is focused on developing novel optical...Read more

Tobias Moser

Prof. Dr. Tobias Moser is a neuroscientist and otolaryngologist at the Göttingen Campus in Germany. He heads the Institute for Auditory Neuroscience at the University Medical Center Göttingen and leads research groups at the German Primate Center and the Max-Planck-Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences. His main areas of research are synaptic coding and processing of auditory information as well as innovative approaches to the restoration of hearing in the deaf such as the optogenetic cochlear implant.

Ji Jing

Dr. Ji Jing obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Science and completed his Postdoctoral training from Texas A&M University. He started his own lab in the Institute of Basic Medicine and Cancer (IBMC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2021. His research interests focus on design and implementation optogenetic tools to manipulate the function of intracellular organelles and their communications with the goal to develop new methods to study principles of cell signaling and behavior, ultimately achieving better treatment and prevention strategies for clinical research and applications.Read more

Armin Baumschlager

Armin Baumschlager completed two M.Sc. studies in Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology (University of Graz, TU Graz, Austria), identifying and characterizing enzymes for biodegradation of synthetic polymers under Prof. Helmut Schwab (TU Graz) and Prof. Georg Gübitz (BOKU Vienna), and developing semirational protein engineering methods for switching the NADH/NADPH cofactor preference of enzymes under Prof. Frances Arnold (Caltech). For his PhD and Postdoc, he went to the Control Theory and Systems Biology Laboratory at ETH Zurich (Prof. Mustafa Khammash), where he developed new tools...Read more

Andreas Diepold

Dr. Andreas Diepold earned his PhD in Biochemistry and Microbiology from University of Basel in Switzerland in 2010. He completed his post-doc with the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford in 2016. Since 2017, he has been leading a research group as a Microbiologist at the Department of Ecophysiology the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology. His research group studies bacterial secretion systems, which are often important virulence factors. They aim to explore how these systems work on the molecular level, how they are controlled by external signals such as...Read more
