Aqua Magic

“A river is more than an amenity; it is a treasure.” – Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes

Modern technologies have allowed us to harness the world’s available water for energy and industrial purposes, but these technologies have failed us in finding a solution to the ever increasing industrial water scarcity. This module has found a way to help millions of global citizens who are facing challenges due to scarcity of water and support the UN Water Program and other international agencies working on water and sanitation issues.

Skin Friction

This module, backed with a sense of inquisitiveness, aims towards educating the young peers about the principle behind skin friction which is basically friction between the surfaces of objects. This very simple material science principle stands behind the deep pile foundations used to support structures built on sand such as the giant floating building - Arabian Tower/ Burj Al Arab standing on sand which uses the frictional resistance between soil and a structure or between soil and a pile being driven in it or why competitive swimmers wear swimsuits and swim caps or shave their heads for...

Identifying lipids in our daily food products

The main objective of this module is for K-12 students to identify the different kinds of lipids present in hand-made food compared to industrially processed food, in addition to identifying the process in which some foods such as butter are made on an industrial scale. Two experiments will be carried out, one to make homemade butter and learn in this way the unit operations present in its preparation, and another to identify lipids.
