He has served the Department of Chemical Engineering as Associate Chair, Interim Chair, and Department Chair. Heand currently serves as Senior Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs, and Vice Dean in the College of Engineering and Computing. Matthews is a Fellow of both the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and of the American Chemical Society. He is also a member of the American Society of Engineering Education, and received the ASEE/...Read more

Bingjun Xu

Bingjun Xu is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at University of Delaware. Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, advised by Profs. Friend and Madix, from Harvard University in 2011. His thesis established a mechanistic framework for oxidative coupling reactions on the Au surface through surface science studies. Dr. Xu worked with Prof. Davis at Caltech on the development of a low temperature, manganese oxide based thermochemical cycle for water splitting. Upon finishing his postdoc, he joined the Department of Chemical...Read more

Babatunde Ogunnaike

Babatunde A. Ogunnaike is the William L. Friend Professor of chemical engineering at the University of Delaware. He received the B.Sc. degree (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria; the M.S. degree, (Statistics) and the Ph.D. degree (Chemical Engineering) both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research interests revolve around understanding the dynamic behavior of complex systems through mathematical modeling and analysis, and then exploiting this understanding for novel designs and improved operation. Specific systems of interest range from polymer...Read more
