Kurt began his career at The Dow Chemical Company in 1972. While there, he held positions in research, manufacturing, and marketing in the Ag Chemicals, Consumer Products, and Polyolefins businesses. In 2003, he was appointed Vice President of R&D and was responsible for polystyrene, automotive, engineering plastics, building and construction products, rubber, and thermosets.
