What is CCUS?

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) encompasses methods and technologies to remove CO 2 from the flue gas and from the atmosphere, followed by recycling the CO 2 for utilization and determining safe and permanent storage options. Despite the adoption of alternative energy sources and energy efficient systems to reduce the rate of CO 2 emissions, the cumulative amount of CO 2 in the atmosphere needs to be reduced to limit the detrimental impacts of climate change [IPCC, 2013]. Therefore, regardless of the deployment of clean and efficient energy solutions, CCUS technologies need to...

Calsep has been a leading provider of PVT simulation services to the oil and gas industry for the last 30 years. Through a close contact with clients Calsep has developed an extensive knowledge base enabling Calsep to offer PVT simulation studies within EOS Modeling and Flow Assurance for all kinds of fluids including natural gases, gas condensates, near critical fluids, black oils, and heavy oils. For each stage of a PVT simulation study Calsep has developed its own procedures, published them in the open literature, and received feedback from clients. Based on this Calsep is constantly...

About

The Upstream Engineering and Flow Assurance (UE&FA) Forum was chartered in April of 2011 by The American Institute of Chemical Engineers. The mission of the UE&FA Forum is to serve the broad range of interests and needs of chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, petroleum engineers, civil engineers, petroleum chemists and our colleagues from many other disciplines who work in the upstream part of the energy industry and who share our interests in the principles, practice and technologies of chemical engineering. A special feature of the UE&FA Forum is that non-AIChE members can...
