The metallurgy selection for the compatible process is quite tricky and complex, especially for the new technology and process. The selection would be more difficult once the process has behaved different fluid patterns with nature. There were number of failure happen around the globe only for wrong material choice. It shall not limited for production loss, but affect around billions of dollars assets as well as lost time injury. The same issue faced in one of the affiliate and found the major equipment failure with the huge production loss until permanent solution arrived. The loss not belongs to production but high investment on permanent solution, temporary solution until permanent solution arrival, energy, utility & product loss due to frequent shutdown & startup, threat to worker nearby that equipment and spoil the utilities due to some equipments process failure can release to some utilities. The process is different acidic (two different kind of acids, one is weak and second is strong) nature, the molality of the fluid is beyond the imagination, other supportive element availability can exaggerate the failure phenomena and high temperature and pressure are the contributor for the failure. After the first failure and detail investigation, the above contributor as well as the fluid reveal the behavior of fluid attach. When most of the alloy of steal and other high corrosive resistance metal alloy were failed with such uncertain behavior, then extensive process and material investigation were required to provide the true durable solution required to stop safety threat and production loss. Process and material team extensively worked on it and delivered the new innovative solution compatible with process. This modification was not only limited to material but also had number of process and equipment geometry were modified. The capital cost of the solution was little higher, but saved the major losses & threat, and reduce sustainability figure.
