Building a Micro Chemisorption Apparatus for Catalyst Characterization

A number of commercial surface characterization techniques are incapable of performing in situ measurements. In addition, when used for ex situ characterization, commercial surface characterization techniques require a substantial amount of catalyst, and they are unable to effectively handle powders. In this work, an in situ chemisorption apparatus that enables one to more accurately characterize various catalyst forms, such as a 1% platinum supported on alumina catalyst, was successfully developed.
