(655d) Scaling up Single-Step Carbon Dioxide Conversion Technology for Sustainable Products

Authors

Sheehan, S. - Presenter, The Air Company
Air Company has scaled up a single-step process for hydrogenation of carbon dioxide using green hydrogen from a benchtop proof-of-concept to a pilot system, that consumes as much as 1 ton per day of carbon dioxide and produces ethanol that is used in hand sanitizer, fragrance, spirits, and other products. In this talk, additional detail will be given to discussion on progressing from the lab-scale to small commercial scales at Air Company over the last 4-5 years, with focus on the challenges and opportunities experienced along the way. Central to the process is the novel and proprietary catalyst that drives the chemistry and the reactor design that enables scale. The process for deployment of our pilot plant, its 24/7 operation, and our journey forward scaling our technology toward world-scale will also be included.
