(143d) Engineering Biology and Health Cluster Overview

Authors

The Engineering Biology and Health (EBH) Cluster consists of five programs that focus on the integration of engineering and life sciences to solve problems affecting humanity. These programs include Biophotonics, Biosensing, Cellular and Biochemical Engineering, Disability and Rehabilitation Engineering, and Engineering of Biomedical Systems. The EBH Cluster supports engineering research to improve human health and the understanding of biological and physiological systems. This includes efforts to promote novel and reproducible systems for detection and screening of biological analytes for health and environmental monitoring, modeling in cells and tissues, stimulating advancements in synthetic biology and protein engineering toward improved biomanufacturing, and enhancing quality of life of persons with disabilities through fundamental engineering advances. The scope of the EBH Cluster encompasses multiple topics that cross programs both within CBET and throughout NSF.
