Industry 4.0 Conference Set for Chicago, November 7–9

October 18, 2022

Chemical engineers and affiliated practitioners in the chemical process industries will discuss opportunities to improve the efficiency of the industry’s manufacturing processes through the application of computer-aided technologies at the 3rd Industry 4.0: Digital Transformation Conference, November 7–9, at the Palmer House in Chicago, Illinois.

Presented by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the conference examines approaches from Industry 4.0 — including interconnectivity, advanced automation, and machine learning — and how they are transforming the process industries. Subject matter experts from industry and national laboratories will lead a program covering the applications of these technologies in industries ranging from chemicals to biopharmaceuticals to food.

Industry 4.0 refers to a suite of computer-aided technologies aimed at improving the efficiency, safety, security, and sustainability of industrial processes. These technologies include artificial intelligence, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), cybersecurity, machine learning, modular manufacturing, process intensification, 3D printing, supply chain management, and others.

Sessions at this year’s Industry 4.0 Conference will explore opportunities for improving manufacturing performance and efficiency, supply chain logistics, industrial security, climate consideration, sustainable manufacturing, and other topics.

The conference is supported by AIChE’s Journal of Advanced Manufacturing and Processing, as well as AIChE’s Rapid Advancement in Process Intensification Deployment (RAPID) Manufacturing Institute. Members of RAPID will lead a workshop dedicated to better understanding the needs of the process industries when it comes to operator and technician training, in order to prepare the workforce for new ways of working.

The conference supplements the programming of other AIChE conferences devoted to “next-generation” manufacturing technologies. That programming includes an Industry 4.0 topical conference to be held as part the 2022 AIChE Annual Meeting, which takes place November 13–18 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Industry 4.0: Digital Transformation Conference is one event on a roster of AIChE conferences that cover topics pertinent to chemical engineers and affiliated professionals across a breadth of technical specializations and interests.
