The Poddar Award for Rising Chemical Engineers

This annual award seeks to honor one (1) recent graduate for their contributions to AIChE, chemical engineering and society, one who shows potential for future growth and leadership. Demonstrable AIChE leadership, community activities and active participation in their AIChE student chapter will all be highly valued during the application review process.

Award Criteria

  • Be a current AIChE Professional Member 
  • Graduated from their undergraduate university in 2019 or later (2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023)
  • Participated actively in their undergradaute AIChE Student Chapter
  • Current or recent active participation in AIChE (committee, division, forum, local section, etc.)
  • Demonstrated promotion of engineering in your local community

Awardee Recognition

The winner will receive:

  • A $500 USD prize
  • Membership to AIChE at no charge in 2024
  • Registration to the 2023 AIChE Annual Meeting
  • A $1,500 USD travel stipend to attend the AIChE Annual Meeting
  • A mentor during their time at the AIChE Annual Meeting (mentor pairing TBD)

Nomination Instructions

If you are interested in applying for this award, please fill out the online application form.  

The online form requires several letters of recommendation written by someone other than the main applicant. It is recommended that you review the application form first, then acquire your letters of recommendation. Once your letters of recommendation in hand, complete the application and upload the letters. All letters of recommendation must be on company/university letterhead with a handwriten signature (no electronic signatures).
