Carbon Fiber - Chemical Engineering on (a) String

The Solvay plant located in Piedmont, SC was the first PAN Based Carbon fiber plant in the United States.  The plant was formerly operated by Union Carbide, Amoco, BP Amoco and Cytec.  Ben Walker will share his 38 years of experience with carbon fiber production.  He has experience in Polyacrylonitrile and Pitch-based fiber, and was on the engineering teams for all three PAN based expansions at the Piedmont site.

Ben graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a double major in Physics and Math and a BS in Chemical Engineering.
