Mapping an Evacuation in Real Time

Personnel safety is of utmost importance during an evacuation. The implementation of wireless personnel location technology can help streamline the mustering and evacuation processes.

Wireless technology has transformed evacuations in today’s industrial process plants, with dashboards showing live muster point headcounts and locations of stranded workers during an emergency. When seconds matter, there is no time to take a manual roll call or scan badges at a muster point. The risks are too high to send someone into harm’s way to search for a person who may not even be in the facility.

This article explores the issues with legacy mustering procedures, presents the medical case for a faster solution, and showcases the industrial wireless technology enabling dashboarding of evacuations.
