Peter Schwalbenberg

Peter Schwalbenberg is an AIChE young professional who coordinates and oversees the scale-up team for Inolex, which manufactures personal care and cosmetic ingredients.

AIChE Foundation: What is it about chemical engineering that you're most passionate about?

Peter Schwalbenberg: I'm most passionate about efficiency and safety in chemical processing.

I think those two go hand in hand in making our planet cleaner and protecting the environment as our technologies become more advanced and mass produced.  

Inspiring the next generation of Chemical Engineers is definitely a goal of mine and gives my life more meaning.

AIChE: What are you working on that you think could change the world someday?

PS: I currently coordinate and oversee the scale-up team for Inolex, which manufactures personal care and cosmetic ingredients. We make many products that use natural and sustainable resources which is important for the industry. With new products comes new discoveries in processing. I aim to make these new discoveries greener and safer and eventually educate the industry in such practices.  

AIChE: How has your relationship with AIChE helped you to fulfill your professional and personal goals?

PS: AIChE has allowed me to be inspired by fellow professionals and helped me create a career path for myself. I've met consulting engineers who've worked in industry and are now assisting me at work. They know so much through experience and now I'm currently studying for the FE and would like to work to obtain my PE license. The more people I meet, the more I want to learn so it's definitely making life more exciting. Personally, it has allowed me to give back to the community through outreach which makes me happy. Inspiring the next generation of Chemical Engineers is definitely a goal of mine and gives my life more meaning.
