There is important work happening as we collectively move towards equity, diversity and inclusion; and more specifically towards LGBTQ+ & Allies inclusivity, but there is still much more to be accomplished. The participants share their experiences as out LGBTQ+ individuals and allies working within industry and academia. They provide insights on the consequences of a lack of diversity in engineering and STEM, what allyship means, the value of mentorship, and the obligations of leaders. Additionally, we learn how AIChE is leading the charge through its LGBTQ+ & Allies Online Professional Community and LGBTQ+ & Allies Endowment, which aims to cultivate and foster a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment. Consequently how YPs and professionals can get involved to move this initiative forward.
