Call for 2025 India Student Regional Conference Host Schools

Attention Indian AIChE Student Chapters:

Exercise your project management skills, gain exposure, and take advantage of the opportunity to host an AIChE Student Regional Conference.

Benefits of Hosting a Student Regional Conference

Exercise your Project Management Skills

Organizing a conference is an impressive feat. Exercise and demonstrate your highly valued project management skills.

Gain Exposure

Host schools typically work with many groups to bring everything together. Work with your department to identify guest speakers, partner with companies to receive corporate funding, and make arrangements with caterers, hotels, and others.

Take Advantage of the Opportunity

This opportunity only comes once a year, and with dozens of other Student Chapters in India, you'll want to make the most of it!

Host School Responsibilities

The host school elected will be responsible for planning and hosting the 2025 India Student Regional Conference. The host school organizes AIChE student competitions, including, but not limited to, the Student Poster, Student Technical Presentation, ChemE Jeopardy, and Chem-E-Car Competitions. Additional featured events include an awards banquet, social mixers, workshops, and optionally career fairs and plant tours. Host schools are responsible for setting a budget, pursuing sponsorships, blocking off hotels, and more. Conference hosts receive support from AIChE and staff.

Speaking from Experience: Benton Berger

“Organizing a Student Regional Conference has been the most challenging yet rewarding and satisfying experience of my college career. Working with other students to pull everything together was immensely beneficial in developing skills related to presentation, organization, and communication. The planning process was also a great networking experience as I interacted with contacts from industry, graduate schools, and AIChE. If you want to expand your network and develop applicable skills as a member of a team, then conference planning is an experience you want to keep on your radar.”

— Benton Berger, 2023 Southern Student Regional Conference Coordinator

Election to Determine Host School

A vote will be held during the upcoming 2023 India SRC Presidents Meeting to determine the 2025 host school. Student Chapters interested in making a bid will be allowed 2-3 minutes to present their conference plans. To demonstrate their ability to hold such a large event, Chapters are encouraged to discuss the facilities and venues available to them, the participation of their active members, plans for fundraising or finding sponsors, and any additional event ideas. Presenting Chapters are encouraged to include 1st and 2nd year students to ensure that the Chapter will be prepared to host a conference two years from now. Questions may be addressed following a Chapter's presentation.

At the conclusion of the presentations, each Student Chapter in attendance at the Presidents Meeting will have one vote to cast. The school with the plurality vote will be selected as the 2025 SRC host school. In the case of a tie, the ESC will cast a vote to break the tie.

If your Student Chapter is interested in hosting the 2025 India SRC, please let us know at esc@aiche.org by August 16, 2023.
