5th AIChE Corporate Innovation Award Lecture

This award was established in 2008. Each year a corporation employing a significant number of chemical engineers will be recognized by AIChE and its National Program Committee for innovation in a) research and development b) development of new technologies c) technology transfer or d) bringing new products to the marketplace. A company shall be selected by meritof having made a substantial difference in the marketplace and global community as well as in the practice of chemical engineering.

Marc S. Giroux

Marc S. Giroux joined Corning Incorporated in 1978 as a Process Engineer in Corning, N.Y. working on the manufacturing process to support the early days of optical fiber commercialization.  For the next 20 years, he held various positions of manufacturing and engineering leadership in that business in the United States and Europe.  A highlight for that business was winning the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1995.

In 1998, he was named Manufacturing Manager for the Photonics Technologies Division and helped grow that operation to nearly a billion dollars in revenue by 2000...
