Chemical processes provide the basis for a number of products and materials used in various applications such as health care, consumer products and electronics. Reducing the environmental footprint of the product supply chain while keeping production costs affordable are challenges a chemical engineer is facing in the development of alternative process routes. Productivity, profitability and environmental consciousness have become key elements in modern process design. This session will discuss green manufacturing and green supply chain approaches that benefit from a re-thinking of traditional process concepts in order to decrease the overall environmental footprint. Presentations that address green manufacturing principles discussing traditional minimization concepts and that show approaches to apply novel, more sustainable production pathways are welcome.
