Santanu Bandyopadhyay, PhD, is the Institute Chair Professor of the Dept. of Energy Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay (Email: santanub@iitb.ac.in). He conducts research in process integration, pinch analysis, industrial energy conservation, modeling and simulation of energy systems, and design and optimization of renewable energy systems. He has contributed to various developmental, industrial, and research activities involving structured approaches to process design, energy integration and conservation, and renewable energy systems design. Prior to joining IIT Bombay, he worked for M/s Engineers India Ltd. (New Delhi). Bandyopadhyay is an associate editor of Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy, INAE Letters, and the International Journal of Energy Technology and Policy. He received his BTech in energy engineering from IIT Kharagpur, and MTech and PhD in energy systems engineering from IIT Bombay. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering.
