Joe Gold received his PhD from Harvard in 1991 and was a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF. He subsequently worked at Geron for 16 years, directing research into hESCs and their therapeutic applications. Joe served as Stanford’s CVI Assistant Director of Translational Research from 2012-2016, focused on cell therapies for heart disease. He spent 5 years at City of Hope as senior director of manufacturing at the Center for Biomedicine and Genetics producing novel cell and gene therapies for early stage clinical trials for both COH PIs and external clients. He is now VP of Tech Ops and Manufacturing at Catamaran Bio, using nonviral methods to generate allogeneic CAR-NKs aimed at treating solid tumors.
