Elçin Içten

Dr. Elçin Içten-Gençer is a Senior Engineer in Drug Substance Technologies (DST) within Process Development at Amgen. Her main areas of expertise are pharmaceutical process development, process modelling, process control, and continuous manufacturing.

Elçin is currently working in Bioprocess Science and Technology group and is responsible for commercial process development of biologics. Prior to her role in Bioprocess Sciences, she was a part of Synthetic Technologies and Engineering within Pivotal DST where she has supported development of batch and continuous processes for drug substances and subsequent technology transfer of these processes to CMOs. Elçin has also led the Virtual Plant development efforts to enable advanced process control of synthetic continuous manufacturing. She is the author of 14 peer-reviewed publications and speaker of over 30 international conference presentations.

Elçin holds a B.S. from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey and a Ph.D. from Purdue University, both in Chemical Engineering. She is the recipient of several awards including Amgen Operations Global Innovation Award for her contributions to continuous manufacturing (2019), Purdue Chemical Engineering Faculty Lectureship Award (2016) and AIChE Process Division Student Paper Award (2015). She is a senior member of AIChE, involved in PD2M programming and co-chair of 2020 PD2M Emerging Modalities conference.
