Process Simulation for Electrolytes

Electrolyte systems are ubiquitous, and their presence plays critical roles in many aspects of industrial and natural processes. Process simulation, a key enabling technology for smart manufacturing, can proceed with electrolyte systems only when accurate and comprehensive thermodynamic models for electrolyte systems are developed. This article presents fundamentals of electrolyte thermodynamics, prominent engineering thermodynamic models for electrolyte solutions, and critical issues in modeling electrolyte systems. It also provides examples of thermodynamic modeling for electrolyte systems. Part 1 covers aqueous electrolytes, while Part 2 covers mixed solvent electrolytes.
