Electron-Beam Processing in the Food Industry

Electron Beam (eBeam) processing is a non-thermal processing technique that involves the use of electrons from commercial electricity for a variety of purposes. Its applications in the food industry are numerous and range from sterilizing food contact membranes used in aseptic packaging, synthesis of biodegradable packaging, ensuring the quality of tropical fruits and vegetables, enhancing the quality of fresh produce, and pasteurizing foods. Because eBeam technology is chemical-free, and has low carbon footprint, there is a growing industrial demand for this technology.
