Baseline technology, the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) controls emissions by oxidizing them. This is expensive and creates greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. By contrast, the FBC uses activated carbon to efficiently adsorb and recover emissions. The FBC’s process intensification characteristics enable 1) Reduced Energy Usage, 2) Reduced Operating Costs, 3) Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and 4) Recovery of Valuable Organics. The technology is new to wood drying operations used in wood pellet, oriented strand board (OSB), plywood, etc. manufacturing. But, it is used commercially today in industries such as automotive.
